24. The Generous Giver

‘Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!’

Matthew 7:9-11

Read that above passage and let it soak in. God is a generous Father! He loves to bless us abundantly. He sees all. His perspective is all encompassing and all knowing. He knows what lies behind us, He knows our present context, He knows what challenges and situations lie before us. He sees all. And through it all, He wants what is best for us.

How blessed are we?!

Yes, we live in an imperfect world and are constantly in a battle of spiritual warfare. We have a limited outlook on our lives and our future. We also have wants and desires which may not necessarily be in line with God’s plan for us. Therefore, when we pray that His will be done, we run the risk of things not turning out exactly as we wanted. Still – thank Him for answering your prayer – and trust in His will and where it leads us to.

Surrender to His perfect timing. Trust in His goodness. He is Lord over all, and victory comes through Him. Believe that in all circumstances, you can still find peace and joy in Him. Despite challenges, it is possible to rest in His perfect peace. Despite challenges, we are loved. Despite challenges, we are blessed. Despite challenges, we can be a blessing to others.

Seek Him out during times of discouragement and pain. Use challenging times to strengthen your faith and trust in Him. We are so much more powerful against the attacks of the devil, when we proclaim worship, praise and thanks to our heavenly Father during the times it is hardest to do so. This is POWERFUL! This is VICTORIOUS! This is effective spiritual combat against the evil one.

Believe that God is for you. Not just your super spiritual neighbour.

Believe He is present. Active and working in your life.

Believe that He has good things in store for you. Claim them as your own with persistent faith and in Jesus’ name; do not let the enemy steal and destroy them.

Seek Him out through the trials. Be filled with His perfect peace, abundant grace and mercy, and follow His guiding hand in all things. He is VICTORIOUS!

‘But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain’

1 Corinthians 15:57-58

Be blessed and be a blessing to others.

‘I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing’

Genesis 12:2
