55. Every Tongue That Accuses You

Is there anything worse than untrue narratives or perceptions being created about you? Is there anything more frustrating than having to deal with lies and negativity being spread against you? Slowly. Steadily. Insidiously. It feels so unjust and can feel like you are constantly a step behind, trying to undo the damage of a spiteful tongue. It’s wearing. It’s hurtful. It is deeply unjust.

Jesus experienced it many times. He understands more deeply than anyone. He had to endure mockery and beatings and slander and death by crucifixion, with insults and accusations being thrown at him. He endured in silence. He knew He was the son of God. Yet, He endured the painful accusations without saying a word. He didn’t fight His case. He knew the truth would prevail, despite what He was suffering in that moment. How incredible that whatever we go through, we know our Lord and Saviour truly understands.

No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.
Isaiah 54:17 NIV

Ultimately, it does not matter who it is that treats us in this way, or the reasons why. These details do not take away from the fact that God promises, ‘no weapon formed against you will prevail’ and ‘you will refute every tongue that accuses you’. As a righteous servant of the Lord, THIS is your heritage and vindication.

Yes, it is painful. It may last days, or weeks, or years. But we know that in time the truth always comes out. With this knowledge, you can wait expectantly as you endure. You can prevail as you wait. With this knowledge, you can experience His perfect peace.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5

I hope this short blog encourages one or more of you today. Be at peace. No false accusatory tongue or weapon formed against you will prosper, in Jesus’ name. It doesn’t matter who it is, how persistent they are. Jesus promises this. Take courage, withstand, hold your head high, and wait expectantly and with gratitude.

THE LORD WILL FIGHT FOR YOU, YOU NEED ONLY TO BE STILL. Exodus 14:14
